Recovered anorexic here; longer story can be found in the beginning of my workout log which is updated daily. Feel free to check it out!

June 4, 2008 – Hospitalized due to Anorexia Nervosa. This started during wrestling in 7th grade (sophomore in highschool now) when I had to lose some weight to make the next weight group under me, so I did that easy. Just ran 20 minutes every day. I have pretty much always wanted to be “ripped” and lean so I thought eating less was the way to go. But… it ended wrongly with my heart practically not beating and me almost dying; depression and anorexia, at 100lbs. My life turned out to be a reck, even at 12, almost 13 years old. I stopped hanging out with friends, obviously didn’t eat much, lost all libido, crying uncontrollably at times, and thoughts of suicide. Story short; it wasn’t fun.

Three months after being diagnosed I was at 145 lbs, 45 pounds in 3 months, with no exercise. yuck. Pretty chubby at the time with VERY little muscle. I had more self confidence in myself and became that happy kid once again. But I STILL wanted to lift weights! I was so envious of people I knew talking about the iron. Later, my parents got me a YMCA membership in June 2009 (for my birthday!) and I really liked it. Then, in September that year I began getting more interested in the free weights and dieting.

Over this past year I have learned a whole ton about my body and what works right. I was on a bodypart ‘split’ for almost 10 months before I decided to change things up. Right now I’m doing a different training style and more focused on strength gains rather than just hypertrophy. It’s called “Chaos and Pain”.

For at least 5-6 months out of the year I’ve been working out I was training for a half marathon. I remember stalling in weight around 141-142 for at least 3 months due to so much cardio and not mentally willing to gain unwanted fat. Then one day I just got sick of being at that weight and got up to 150 in about a month, with not much fat gain!

Well, anyway, time for pictures! I have 37 total on my progress picture page, but I’ll just scope and choose some of my favorite. My progress can be viewed here.

Here’s me in the hospital… I’m pretty sure this is the 2nd day out of three of being hospitalized, bout 100 lbs (not morning weight)

baco in the hospital for being too skinny, needs to gain weight.

I apologize for not having any t-shirts/shirtless pics on hand… obviously didn’t expect to be looking back, plus when you lost that much fat your body goes into starvation mode and you’re always so d*mn cold!

Here is around 110 lbs, 1 month out of the hospital

Here is at the beginning of my actual bodybuilding journey, at 122 lbs morning weight. 15 months after being diagnosed.

Thanks again! I have a LONG way to go, so be sure to check out my progress in ANOTHER year. Nobody forces me to work out, or live healthily. Every single time I step into the weight room to work out, I feel like my dream is coming true. I can’t wait to start pumping the iron. I love lifting with a passion.
